This policy establishes a clear framework for addressing errors, corrections, clarifications, and content removal when necessary, in order to strengthen public trust and ensure transparency. The organization also takes into consideration the potential impact of errors or inaccurate reporting on women, marginalized groups, and people affected by conflict and digital violence.

I. General Principles

  • The organization is committed to the following principles:

  • Prompt action when a professional error is identified
  • No concealment of amendments or changes without documentation
  • Protecting the public from misleading information

II. Types of Corrections

Corrections may include:

  • Factual errors: Names, figures, dates, data, or other factual information
  • Methodological or interpretive errors
  • Updates to information following the publication of an investigation
  • Removal or amendment of content found to be inaccurate

  • Errors are corrected promptly once they have been verified.
  • A clarification is added to the published material explaining the nature of the amendment and the date on which it was made.
  • Content is not deleted or amended without a clear indication of the reason for the change.

  • Decisions are made according to standards of accuracy and public interest.
